RE: Loading problem

Thanks to everyone who posted and offered tips and suggestions I have both Polaris 800 home now and no way can I load them side by side through your tips here is what I am going to try. backing the x2 in and then using the winch on the 800x2 pull the other 800 up the ramp sideways using dollies I hope this works. I like the diamond plate spacer that goes in the gap between the ramp and the floor where can I buy one? Thanks again for all of your help I will post my results. Brian.

RE: Loading problem

Y-Guy I am trying to load two sportsman 800s one is a two up the second is a regular one they are 48" wide and I don't think I can get the two side by side I will be picking up the 08 800 tomorrow then I will be able to see for sure but if they are the same they wont fit I like the spin method or the dollie idea. when I came home on Sat and told the DW about the latest addition to the trailer she said are they going to fit I said sure they will as I went out the door with tape in hand:o Buy the way not that it matters but the hauler is a 36' Victory lane. new vehicle buying follow up

Last week I asked about buying a new vehicle and I got alot of good advice. I just wanted to follow up. What I did was I found out everything I could about the vehicle what packages they offerd what engine options ect. then I went to Edmonds and a couple of other online sorces and got what the dealer paid (invoice) and then I built the vehicle I wanted it gave me the msrp which doesn't mean anything but it also gives you dealer cost and after all options it gave me a TMV total market value this is an average of what people are actually paying for that vehicle. then I contacted four dealerships via E-mail and told them the vehicle I wanted with the options. I told them I would be buying by the end of the week and would buy from the dealer who gives me the best (otd) out the door price. It didn't take long before E-mails started coming in. After a couple of offers you will be able to tell who is agressive to get rid of inventory or who will locate one. It came down to two dealers battling for my business. I ended up getting the vehicle for around 500 under dealer cost and I also got two oil changes. This was not on a tow vehicle "mine will be at home until I tow the 5er" but the process works on any vehicle. Thanks for everyone's help with this purchase I am a novice so anyone can do this being the market is slow and also sit back and don't be in a hurry and the price will fall to the dealers lowest price. Thanks again Brian..

RE: Dealing on new vehicle?

Thanks for the great info the out the door price is a good idea because everytime ive been at the dealer my head srarts spinning when they use a whole set of numbers and arrive at a price. The last time I bought a truck I used consumer report and for $14 they will send you a list of what the dealer pays for the vehicle. has anyone used this before? So to recap the rebate should be taken off the price of invoice or slighty above invoice if I can be sure what the dealer paid add taxes, license, and make an out the door price. am I on the right track? Brian.

Dealing on new vehicle?

I have a question for thouse of you who are more talented then I am when it comes to new car /truck negotiations. I have read once you determin the invoice price the dealer paid then usually 4% to 8% above invoice is a good price. So lets say for example you find out the dealers invoice then offer 4% and work your way up to the max you are willing to pay lets say 8% If the factory is offering a rebate of lets say $3,000 do you then subtract the 3,000 from that number? If my max offer is 20,000 "just using a number" and that falls between 4 and 8% would my price be 17,000 because of the 3,000 rebate or does the dealer give rebates to confuse the buyer like me. I hope this makes sense. thanks (sorry spell check not working) Brian...

Transfer Tank

I am looking for a transfer tank for my F350 diesel I found a steel tank at our local farm&fleet store its a Delta 50 gal tank for $199.00 I have read about transferflow tanks and it sounds like they are the Cadillac of tanks @ $1200 or $1500 it is out of my budget right now. my question is have anyone had a steel tank and if you have have you had any issues? Also this tank I would have to use a hand pump or buy a 12 volt pump. Thanks Brian..

RE: Ford 6.0 Owners

I have a 06 F-350 6.0 and I too have a slight oil leak I took it to the dealership and they said in my case the oil was coming from the turbo area they called it "puddleing" they replaced a couple of tubes and put some kind of sealant on the blue hose at the turbo I still have a leak I can smell oil burning when I stop but it is not dripping where I can see it on the floor I think it is something that I will have to live with for now unless it becomes worse. Go to the dieselstop.com and you will find alot of info on the 6.0 leaker/liter. good luck with whatever you decide. Brian..

In a hurry don't forget pull test

I was driving to work today around 6.30 am still dark out I happened to look in the oncoming lane and all I see is sparks flying down the road as I passed by I slowed down and looked in the rearview mirror and see a semi minis a trailer going down the road. the trailer came off of the semi pulling it. A car that was behind the trailer slammed on the brakes almost hitting the back of the trailer all I could think of was what if that was me pulling my fiver and forgot to do a pull test it made my stomach turn. The lost trailer was only about a quarter mile from where it started from. It was a 7up distributor I pass the building every day. luckily the truck was only going about 35 mph but none the less my biggest fear happened right in front of me.what if it didn't come off until the rig was doing 55 or better. I am new to fifth wheels so this will stick with me no matter how much of a hurry I am in I will always check and double check the hook up and do a pull test..

RE: Am I too heavy

I have a 3612 Victory lane toyhauler it weighs a little less than the raptor and I was pulling it with a 2006 f-250 6.0 short bed and I was over on my gvwr by 900lbs I had to put air bags on it so I wouldn't point the headlights at the top of the trees. I was still in my GCVWR but was still overloaded. will it pull it yes will you be overloaded yes. I'ts your call as for me I upgraded to a 2006 F-350 dually long bed I have room to spare on my GVWR and It is more stable. Brian...
